Welcome Matt Ekstrom, CRO, and Jörg Schad, Head of Engineering & Machine Learning!
We are super excited to share the great news of two highly-experienced minds joining team ArangoDB to shape and grow the multi-model vision with us.
Matt Ekstrom is an accomplished enterprise sales leader and joins ArangoDB as Chief Revenue Officer. He brings over 20 years of sales and leadership experience with him and will lead our global sales efforts from San Francisco.
Our new Head of Engineering & Machine Learning is Jörg Schad who brings nearly a decade of experience of researching, designing and developing distributed systems and machine learning pipelines to our team.
Meet Matt Ekstrom
Matt has spent the past two decades in various sales functions, working his way up from Sales Development, Inside Sales, Enterprise Sales and Sales Management — giving him the first-hand knowledge on how to build and manage a world-class sales team.
Before joining ArangoDB, Matt was the Vice President of Sales at ScyllaDB, where he grew the global sales team from one to 20 people and created highly-efficient processes to drive revenue growth across regions and verticals. His experience also includes forging highly-successful teams at ANSYS and Informatica, as well as enterprise sales at MongoDB.
From Matt: “ArangoDB has already achieved so much in its young history, and the value native multi-model provides to developers and their companies is so obvious: Create software in a different, simpler way without compromising on performance, scalability or flexibility. I’m very excited to be part of the multi-model movement and strongly believe that adding my first-hand experience building world-class sales teams and expanding into new verticals will get ArangoDB to the next level.”
Meet Jörg Schad
Jörg Schad joins us as Head of Engineering & Machine Learning, bringing a very deep understanding of distributed systems to ArangoDB. He has spent the past decade building machine learning pipelines in healthcare, machine learning infrastructure and Kubernetes operators at Mesosphere, as well as developing in-memory databases at SAP. He also received his Ph.D. for research around distributed databases and data analytics.
You’ll likely see Jörg out and about, as he’s passionate about building community and a frequent speaker at meetups, international conferences, and lecture halls. His upcoming talks include speaking at Strata Data Conference in September about how ArangoDB’s multi-model concept can help to build a common metadata layer for machine learning platforms, as well as at DevOpsCon in December to give an overview of containerization technologies.
From Jörg: “ArangoDB has a world class engineering team, an amazing product and great community. I am super excited for the opportunity to work with both the engineering team and the community to make ArangoDB not only a great product, but also a great project for engineers to work on exciting technology.”
