3.12 CE Changes FAQ

What is changing with the 3.12 Community Edition?

With the release of 3.12.5 the Community Edition will share the same code base as the Enterprise Edition and all core Enterprise Features will be available.

What limits are there on the 3.12.5+ Community Edition?

The Community Edition of 3.12.5+ has an enforced total database size limit of 100GB and as with all 3.12+ versions cannot be used for commercial purposes.

What should I do if my total database size exceeds 100GB?

Why are these changes being made?

ArangoDB has made the decision to unify the code base of the product, delivering parity between the Community and Enterprise edition. This decision is driven by (i) requests from the Community to take advantage of the latest 3.12x features related to scalability, performance, and probably most importantly, security, and; (ii) the need for ArangoDB to invest in a single set of advanced features instead of maintaining code and patches for multiple versions.

To comply with the license requirements in 3.12, is it possible to use the Enterprise Edition in production and Community Edition in development?

No, the Enterprise Edition MSA (Section 1.5ii) explicitly prohibits this implementation of the licenses.
