This is a reminder that ArangoDB 3.11 will enter End of Life status as of May 30, 2025.
ArangoDB 3.11 was released for General Availability on May 30, 2023. As of May 30, 2025, support for ArangoDB 3.11 which is 12 months beyond ArangoDB’s End of Life policy.

What are the key factors driving the decision to EOL ArangoDB 3.11?

ArangoDB has an established End of Life policy to allow users ample time to migrate to the current version of the software. Longer term support of the prior version creates Engineering inefficiencies diminishing the ability of ArangoDB Engineering and Support to provide an ongoing optimal experience for users.

What are the major enhancements in 3.12?

There are many dozens of important enhancements in 3.12 listed in the documentation here.

Highlights include:

  • Security Strengthening: Improved memory tracking, compression, query logging, and cluster connectivity checks.
  • Vector Indexes: Essential for GenAI applications and AI-powered search.

Information for 3.11 Community Edition Users

What are the key changes to be aware of when upgrading from 3.11 to 3.12 Community Edition?

  • License Changes: The Community Edition of 3.12 cannot be used for commercial purposes. The license can be found here.
  • Capability Changes: The Community Edition of 3.12 (as of 3.12.5) includes all features available in the Enterprise Edition (OneShard, SmartGraphs, Backups, etc) and has an enforced total database size limit of 100GB and otherwise.
